Introduction

The surgical management of pulmonary metastatic disease is an integral component of numerous cancer treatment algorithms. The surgical tasks vary from limited biopsy to complete resection of all identified thoracic disease. The approach depends upon the type of malignancy, timing of presentation, response to systemic therapy, and alternative options for local control. The pediatric surgeon is an integral member of the oncologic team working to achieve a cure for these challenging patients and should be involved in the discussion and decision analysis in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.
