Introduction

Chronic pancreatitis is defined as irreversible structural damage to the pancreas resulting in focal or diffuse destruction, sclerosis or pancreatic duct abnormalities with one of the following [1]

  • abdominal pain consistent with pancreatitis or pancreatic laboratory values greater than three times normal
  • exocrine pancreatic insufficiency
  • endocrine pancreatic insufficiency
