Introduction

Ovarian torsion is a surgical emergency requiring early recognition and prompt intervention in order to to salvage the ovary. An uncommon event in the pediatric population, the diagnosis can be challenging as the presentation can mimic many other disease processes. Awareness of the symptoms, proper diagnostic workup and appropriate referral to a surgeon can lead to prompt diagnosis and treatment thereby improving outcomes.
