Education Committee
Introduction
Chair/Co-Chair: Eunice Huang/Grace Mak
The APSA Education Committee optimizes the surgical care of children through effective knowledge delivery to the pediatric surgical community and translation of knowledge into practice. We support the development of Pediatric Surgeons by providing resources for educating medical students, surgical residents, patients, families, and practicing surgeons.
At the annual APSA meeting, the Education Committee produces sessions addressing Variations of Care for salient pediatric surgical conditions. The most recent topics included gastroesophageal reflux disease, choledocholithiasis, ECMO access, and inguinal hernias. We also host the Medical Student/Resident/Fellow reception for aspiring pediatric surgeons to hear from Pediatric Surgery Program Directors and fellows as well as to meet and network with program directors, associate program directors and fellows.
Through our subcommittees, we provide a variety of educational opportunities for the different communities we serve. Our social media subcommittee helps to publicize new content as they are added to the website and provides tips on how to navigate the PedSurgLibrary website.
