Eosinophilic esophagitis is a chronic esophageal dysfunction disorder caused by eosinophilic mediated inflammation of the esophagus. It is generally consider a clinicopathologic disease and diagnosis is dependent both on clinical symptoms of esophageal dysfunction as well as histopathologic identification of eosinophilic infiltration noted on epithelial tissue biopsy.
