The increased compliance of a child’s chest wall allows tracheobronchial injury to occur without the suggestive chest wall injuries usually present in adult patients who have a similar mechanism of injury. Children with tracheobronchial injuries are likely to have associated multisystem injuries that may require emergent treatment.
